Background

Heather Teague, founder of His Heart for Africa, began this company in 2013 out of her passion for Uganda after visiting junior year of college. This trip inspired her and made her realize this was a place she was meant to come back to. The organization started out just helping different organizations wherever they could. It then became more focused on certain people groups once they became aware of the needs. They chose to focus on the elderly and young child people groups. The children’s families don’t often have the means to support and fund their schooling but the children must get an education in order to begin ending the cycle of poverty. On the other hand, the elderly in Uganda often don’t receive enough care or respect toward the end of their lives. His Heart for Africa strives to make these forgotten people groups feel cared for and loved at both ends and stages of life.

Why the children & elderly?

Schooling in Uganda isn’t free and many families and mothers don’t have enough money to afford it. They often end up having to choose whether to feed their family or send their child to school. His Heart for Africa wants to alleviate these pressures and make strides to eliminate this decision. By donating, you can help get the child to school, get school supplies and even help alleviate their lunch fees.

Many Ugandan families have multiple children in hopes some will survive and they will be able to care for them in their old age. When these kids grow up and become a part of the older population there often is no care in place for them to fall back on. Unlike America, where we have hospice or nursing homes, they don’t have any facilities like this. His Heart for Africa believes “every person nearing the end of their life deserves to be taken care of, loved on,and treated with respect.” By helping His Heart for Africa you can be a part of developing a way to care for the elderly here.

They post monthly updates on what is happening with His Heart for Africa so that you can stay up to date and in the loop with how your donations are being put to use. Heather’s desire to spread kindness, love and compassion during the past years has touched so many lives, given them hope and made them feel loved and important.
