Kindness or being “kind” is something we toss around a lot. It is a wonderful and descriptive word but what does it truly mean and more importantly, what can it mean in our lives? The definition of kindness is: the quality of being friendly, generous or considerate; a kind act. The synonyms of kindness are service, warmth, affection, goodwill, a kind act, good deed, favor and more. It can mean a lot of different things and can be shown in many different ways.
Think about how you personally show kindness to others. We all have different stories and definitions of kindness based on our experiences. Where and how can you broaden your definition and spectrum of what you believe kindness to be? I believe kindness can be woven into daily moments and also through specific programs and organizations. I hope to take a look at what kindness means to people and how it has affected their lives and maybe even changed them. From simple to extravagant each act is impactful in its own way.
Some have been prompted to spread kindness by starting their own business and through this platform they can spread kindness to a certain group of people. How are they using their platform for good and what was the catalyst for them to start the business? How do they insure kindness is woven throughout their company? How do they live out the “kindness starts with you” concept.
Others choose to spread kindness by pursuing their passions and talents and this has given them a platform to give back to others. What sparked them to want to give back? When did they begin to realize they could make a difference using their voice. How do they tangibly show kindness? Financially, through random acts or supporting others showing kindness.
Kindness can even simply look like a person believing at their core that kindness is important. They avidly choose to spread kindness every day to those they come in contact with. These people make it their mission to pass kindness on to others. Carrying yourself with kindness can result in little acts that often make the most impact.
This kindness movement is not meant to simply highlight those people and organizations spreading kindness, but to encourage you to think about how kindness can start with you and how each day you can make the choice to take the first step to spread kindness. You have the power to make an impact by challenging yourself to look at each moment through the lens of kindness and adjusting your actions to integrate a little more kindness into your life.
I’m hoping to hear your thoughts and stories of how acts of kindness have impacted you or how you have been able to change the lens with which you look at the world. If we can look past differences and lead with love and kindness we will be able to change the world a little bit at a time.
You are an amazing human Mojo!
